Spa Treatment

Balinese Massage

What is Balinese massage?
Balinese massage was developed in the Indonesian province of Bali, with influence from the traditional medicine systems of India, China, and Southeast Asia. Balinese massage techniques include acupressure, skin rolling and flicking, firm and gentle stroking, percussion, and application of essential oils.

A Balinese massage includes a range of mild stretching, acupressure, long strokes, reflexology, aromatherapy oils and kneading. Essential oils are used to stimulate memory while at the same time offering relief from muscle damage. This is the reason why you are able to fully recover from fatigue that might have characterized your daily life before the vacation.

What are the Benefits of Balinese Massage?
One of the highlights of your trip to Bali should be a Balinese massage. It is true every neighborhood in your city has a spa but what a Balinese offers cannot be replicated in any other place. This type of massage therapy originated from the island and its power comes from the ability to reinvigorate the body and mind in a wholesome manner. The rhythmical massage therapy relaxes muscles to give you a spurt of energy that was lacking in your body.
If you are feeling jaded and you feel tired all the time, it is time to spice up your life with a Balinese massage. While Bali is renowned for many other things, a Balinese massage must form part of your program when you visit. Below are some of the benefits you will enjoy:

  • Increased blood flow to the muscles to repair damaged muscles
  • Relieve stress and other mental issues and boost IQ
  • Sooth joint pains
  • Boost balance of life
  • Increase energy levels by rejuvenating your muscles.
  • Whole body relaxation by calming emotions
  • Strengthen muscles through deep massage techniques
  • Optimal performance of the body

Shirodhara

Shirodhara comes from the two Sanskrit words “shiro” (head) and “dhara” (flow). It's an Ayurvedic healing technique that involves having someone pour liquid — usually oil, milk, buttermilk, or water — onto your forehead. It's often combined with a body, scalp, or head massage.

Shirodhara not only helps to reduce stress and soothe the nervous system but it has other beneficial effects as well. It can treat insomnia, bring relief from migraines, lowers high blood pressure, decreases hair loss, reduces stress and even helps to increase mental focus and concentration

Benefits of Shirodhara Treatment

Relieves Stress
Stress is the body’s reaction in the form of physical or emotional change that comes from any event or thought that makes one feel angry, frustrated, or nervous. Shirodhara treatment holds high significance in alleviating stress from the mind and body. The steady pour of warm oil along with slight massage begets calmness, facilitates relaxation and promotes tranquillity. As the body enters into a deep relaxation state, it turns on the parasympathetic nervous system mode, i.e. the stress hormones are subdued since the hyper-alert brain waves (bets waves) transition into relaxed-alert ones (alpha waves). Due to this transition, the body conserves energy, relaxes muscles, dilates blood vessels and slows down the heart rate. The treatment is pivotal in the case of arrhythmia and hypertension.

Reduces fatigue
Shirodhara reduces fatigue and initiates a soothing effect on our brain cells. It is a purifying and rejuvenating therapy designed to eliminate toxins and mental exhaustion as well as relieve stress and any ill effects on the central nervous system.

Beneficial in sleep-related problems
The treatment has a soothing effect on the hypothalamus and helps regulate pituitary gland activity to induce sleep, thus treating conditions such as insomnia.

Boosts blood circulation
The use of warm herbal oils in Shirodhara helps in vasodilation of the blood vessels, improving blood circulation to the brain.

Helps improve headaches
In Ayurveda, due to stress or anxiety-related episodes, the Pitta dosha obstructs the flow of Vata dosha, consequently causing throbbing pain in the head. The soothing effect of these oils helps manage aggravated doshas and alleviates stress-induced headaches and migraines.

Lowers stress, anxiety, and depression
Shirodhara can help soothe the hypothalamus, which activates the regulation of the pituitary gland. It also works in reducing elevated serotonin levels and stress hormones such as noradrenaline and adrenaline, to effectively manage stress.

Due to the constant flow of liquids over the head, Shirodhara tranquilizes and stabilizes the mind, so the mind becomes serene and calm. It is a form of restorative therapy for stress, anxiety, depression, and all other psychosomatic diseases.

Improves concentration
By nourishing the scalp, Shirodhara helps improve mental clarity, and thought process, and helps to lower stress levels. It also helps prevent neurological disorders, which can cause memory loss and concentration problems.

Beneficial for jetlag
It is a wonderful experience for people who suffer from jet lag or insomnia due to frequent flying as this therapy helps reset the daily routine of waking and sleeping due to continuous traveling, relaxes your exhausted body, and decreases fatigue.

Traditional Lulur

Traditional LULUR
Originating from Javanese royalty, Mandi Lulur originated in the Indonesian Royal Palaces of Central Java. The name comes from the word 'Mandi' meaning bath and 'Lulur' which refers to flowers in the Indonesian language. This was believed to be the purifying ritual for the princesses of Javanese royalty.
Used to cleanse, soften and purify the skin, the Javanese Lulur is a royal ritual that originally began in the palaces of Yogyakarta (on the island of Java, Indonesia) around the 17th century. Prospective brides used to complete the ritual every day, for 40 days, to prepare the skin for the big wedding night.

What Is a Body Scrub?
Body scrubs are a type of body care product used to help exfoliate your skin. There are many different types of body scrubs: Some only remove dead skin and other surface debris, while others clean the skin while they exfoliate (much like an exfoliating facial cleanser). How effective a scrub is depends on the exfoliants it contains. Scrubs with harsher abrasives, like sugar, tend to be more aggressive, while those made with synthetic microbeads or fine seed powders typically provide more gentle exfoliation.
